Laser Hair Removal

Skin Joy Dermatology offers a safe and effective alternative to remove unwanted facial or body hair for all skin types while eliminating razor burn and the “shadow” effect caused by shaving.

Why Laser Hair Removal?

Compared to traditional methods of hair removal such as shaving, plucking, and waxing, laser hair removal is a proven method for permanent hair reduction for all skin types. It reduces 80-95% of hair growth permanently.

How does it work?

Laser Hair Removal treatments permanently reduce unwanted hair by utilizing laser energy to target active hair follicles. It works by heating the hair follicles. The laser energy that produces the light is converted into heat and uses technology to pass gently the heat over the skin to safely damage and stop the growth of hair follicles. This puts the hair follicles in a state of dormancy for a long period of time. The existing hairs fall out in a few weeks and new hairs are unable to grow back. Since laser can only treat active hair follicles, a series of treatments is required for best results.

Q: Does Laser Hair Removal hurt?

A: Although pain tolerance varies from person to person, most patients describe the sensation of Laser Hair Removal as relatively painless, and similar to a rubber band snapping on the skin.

Q: How many treatments are necessary to see results?
