Skin Joy Dermatology’s Aesthetician

Q: What is an Aesthetician?

A: Aestheticians, also known as skincare specialists, clean skin through skin exfoliation, massage, aromatherapy, and facials. They also analyze skin to identify any health problems and temporarily remove hair. In addition to skin health, some aestheticians have a cosmetic focus and may apply makeup and consult individuals on the best products for their skin type.

Q: When do I go to an Aesthetician?

A: Patients who start by seeing a dermatologist for assessment and treatment of acne or other skin conditions may then visit an aesthetician for maintenance, such as facials, chemical peels, or laser treatments.

Q: What can our Aesthetician do?

A: Skin Joy Dermatology’s Aesthetician performs treatment relating to the skin such as intense pulsed light, laser, and light-based procedures, microdermabrasion, superficial chemical peels, and other advanced beauty and cosmetic treatments. Generally speaking, an experienced aesthetician can help you love the skin you’re in.

Q: How long does it take to be a medical Aesthetician?

A: An Aesthetician completes a Formal Course of Study or Apprenticeship. The practice requirements generally range from 300 to 750 hours. In Texas, students must complete a program of at least 750 hours.
